The Indonesian-Malaysian team capped off their undefeated run from the inaugural edition of the Open competition with a dominant 3-0 win over Galaxy Racer Female in the grand final (Icebox 13-10, Split 13-7, Breeze 13-3).
It took Alter Ego Celeste just under two hours to beat Galaxy Racer Female and with the FSL Open V title, their sixth consecutive victory on the VCT Game Changers circuit this year.
The Ryona “Tarathiel” Tan-led side were brimming with confidence after taking down all teams without losing a single map in the process. Kid Mai Ork were the only team that could push Alter Ego Celeste to their limit despite failing to close off the map in their favor (Ascent 14-16). Other than Kid Mai Ork, only Galaxy Racer Female were capable of double digits versus Alter Ego Celeste (Icebox 10-13).
Interestingly, one noteworthy team did not advance to the playoffs. Oasis Gaming Aqua, the runner-up in the previous edition, did not make it to the playoffs as Renatus White (previously known as The Impaler) defeated them 13-7 in the upper-bracket final and knocked them out.

The Grand Final – Alter Ego Celeste vs Galaxy Racer Female
Icebox began the final series as Galaxy Racer Female’s initial map choice, which favored the map picker in the early rounds before devolving into a back-and-forth battle that lasted the distance. Alter Ego Celeste, on the other hand, seemed to be highly favored, particularly when they moved to the offensive side, thus ending the game in the 23rd round, 13-10.
While Galaxy Racer Female looked to equalize things in the first half of Alter Ego Celeste’s selection, Split, but could not stand in two feets to really fight the Indonesian-Malaysian side who were leading by a comfortable margin moving on to the second half. The second map saw Alter Ego Celeste made no slipups, closing out the map 13-7.
Breeze was going in a similar way, which was all the more frightening for Galaxy Racer Female, as their rival went on to win eight straight rounds before taking only three in the whole first half. Alter Ego Celeste wasted no time in reaching the match point, winning the series 13-3 and adding another trophy to their cabinet to continue their impressive run in 2021.
