The Indian organization will leave VALORANT and esports altogether, opting to take a hiatus from the game for the upcoming seasons.
INDIA – Aster Army announced today it was closing its doors, stating that the organization will be taking a hiatus from esports and sit out the next few seasons of VALORANT. The players and coaching staff have shared their plans to seek individual offers for the 2024 season, leaving Aster Army without any active members.
Backed by Singapore-India-based mobile technology company U2opia Mobile, the core roster of Soumyadeep “DOXZ3RRR” Dey, Ngô “Kishi” Trường Huy, and Pranav “Kohliii” Kohli had competed together since February when the organization was previously known as Anaadi Army until the rebrand in March. This period marked a significant overhaul not just in the branding but also in the team’s structure for the 2023 season, retaining only DOXZ3RRR from their previous roster.

In the 2023 season, Aster Army hosted a range of South and Southeast Asian players during its time in the game and managed to qualify for the VALORANT Challengers South Asia circuit by winning the open qualifier held in March. The team quickly developed into one of the strong contenders in the South Asian scene, achieving a fourth-place finish in Split 1 and following it up with a third-place finish in the subsequent Split.
The team only recently underwent changes by parting ways with Kohliii in early November and bringing in Atharv “Rio” Ahire and Saksham “Deadly10” Aurangabadkar a few weeks after, although the latter player did not have any official matches recorded with the team as his tenure with them lasted only four days.
The statement released by the organization said that they are “immensely proud of our team and the fantastic run we have had in the first VCL SA. We are excited about the future esports in India.”
