BOOM Esports sign famouz on loan for APAC Last Chance Qualifier

Fikri “famouz” Zaki joins as a stand-in on loan from Persija Esports until the end of the first week of August

INDONESIA – Fikri “famouz” Zaki is set to complete the roster of BOOM Esports for the VCT APAC Last Chance Qualifier as part of a short-term loan agreement with Persija Esports. The 24-year-old Duelist/Initiator would fill the spot left vacant by Rafi “frostmind” Diandra, who departed the squad early this month.

BOOM Esports dropped a hint about the transfer on Monday, tweeting that they “are close to bringing in a famous player from a well-known football club.”

The move comes as Persija Esports currently have no events lined up following the end of their Stage 2 run, which concluded early in the sub-regional VCT Indonesia Stage 2 Challengers tournament in sixth place. Since their defeats to Alter Ego and Bigetron Arctic in Upper Bracket R1 and Lower Bracket R1, respectively, famouz and co. have logged no official matches. Therefore, Fikri “famouz” Zaki is free to help one of Indonesia’s representatives in the APAC Last Chance Qualifier snatch a coveted Champions spot.

Famouz burst onto the scene with MORPH Team during the very first year of the game, most notably winning the Easter Egg Invitational and coming third in First Strike Indonesia. He went on to play for Bigetron Astro in early 2021.

There, the Raze player was reunited with Edward “Fat Penguin” (VCT S2) and Fidel “fidelwow” Saputra (VCT S3) in two separate timelines before playing for BOY WITH LOVE alongside some of the most decorated Indonesian players, who later on were signed by Persija Esports. The Kemayoran Tigers managed to finish 5-6th in VCT APAC Stage 1 Challengers despite having little to no preparation.

famouz will have several weeks to become familiar with the team’s strategy and chemistry before the VCT APAC Last Chance Qualifier, which is set to start on August 1-7.

BOOM Esports’ lineup with famouz on loan is:

  • 🇮🇩 Gary “blaZek1ng” Dastin
  • 🇮🇩 Saibani “fl1pzjder” Rahmad
  • 🇮🇩 Rizkie “BerserX” Kusuma
  • 🇮🇩 David “Tehbotol” Monangin
  • 🇮🇩 Fikri “famouz” Zaki (Loan)
  • 🇰🇷 Ji “meow” Dong-jun (Coach)
