CHICHOO secures third place in the Top 20 APAC Players at The VALO2ASIA Awards 2024, standing out as one of the year’s most impactful players and driving EDG to claim victory at the 4th VALORANT Champions.
CHINA – Wan “CHICHOO” Shunzhi of EDward Gaming has claimed the No. 3 spot in the Top 20 APAC Players at The VALO2ASIA Awards 2024. A key player in EDward Gaming’s rise to glory this year CHICHOO’s consistent performance as a clutch player and anchor was instrumental in securing EDG’s historic victory at the 4th VALORANT Champions, earning China its first international VALORANT title.
This year marks CHICHOO’s second appearance on the VALO2ASIA Awards list, improving from his #12 ranking in 2023 to a well-deserved top-three position. While EDG are often synonymous with duelist star Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang, CHICHOO’s understated yet critical role in high-pressure scenarios and his ability to stabilize the team have been equally important. His contributions have cemented EDG’s dominance in the CN league throughout the years and have now propelled them to global success.

The 2024 season began with sky-high expectations for EDward Gaming following consecutive top-six finishes at Tokyo and Los Angeles in 2023. Yet, their journey was not without hurdles. A disappointing performance at VALORANT Masters Shanghai, where the team failed to secure a single win on home soil, was a moment of reckoning for both the roster and their devoted fanbase.
Choosing to maintain their core roster, including CHICHOO, EDG also brought in fresh talent with Hsieh “S1Mon” Meng-hsun, who also impressed this year by earning the #13 spot in the Top 20 APAC Players of 2024.
The team’s perseverance paid off spectacularly at VALORANT Champions Seoul, where EDG stunned the world. The team triumphed over top contenders such as Paper Rex, Sentinels, and LEVIATAN, before defeating Team Heretics in a thrilling grand final. While ZmjjKK’s explosive plays earned him the Finals MVP title, many regarded CHICHOO as the tournament’s overall MVP. His unparalleled consistency throughout the event saw him averaging a 1.18 VLR rating over 449 rounds.
“With a team already full of incredibly aggressive and risk-heavy players, CHOCHOO was the constant rock that simply would not budge,” V2A judge panel Nico “BlackenBlue” Gayoso commented.
“His reliability and consistency continuously kept EDG stable throughout their entire championship run, he was the counterweight to the gravity that the rest of his team brought. His contribution to the team is the backbone to what makes EDG’s playstyle as effective as it was.”
