Geek Fam is set to enter VALORANT with a Filipino roster for the 2024 Challengers season.
PHILIPPINES – Malaysia-based Geek Fam is set to field a VALORANT roster based in the Philippines.
It has been confirmed that the organization has received an invitation to the main event of VALORANT Challengers Philippines Split 1, taking the slot previously held by MVP Esports who secured the fourth position in the previous season’s second Split. The newly-formed Geek Fam roster will not retain all members from the previous MVP lineup, VALO2ASIA has learned.
Having originated in 2016 as a Dota 2 organization, Geek Fam expanded its reach to various titles after, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (ID & MY), PUBG Mobile (ID & MY), and Free Fire (MY), among others. With a focus on Southeast Asia and a significant presence in the Philippines for Dota 2 and previously in MLBB, Geek Fam’s decision to venture into the VALORANT scene in the PH region seems strategic.

This won’t be Geek Fam’s first attempt to enter VALORANT, as it previously fielded an unannounced Indonesian roster in early 2021, featuring current Alter Ego member Rivaldy “ValdyN” Nafian and former ARF Team duo Micheal “Mika” Setiawan and Rayhan “zhar” Azhar. Unfortunately, their stint was short-lived, concluding with a first-round loss in the Challengers Indonesia Stage 2 Challengers 2 Open Qualifier to Reckless Lads.
Geek Fam’s re-entry into VALORANT, this time in the Philippines, will only add to the optimism within the domestic scene, featuring a new household name in the tier-two circuit.
The identity of the players making up the roster remains under wraps, with details expected to unfold in the weeks leading up to the commencement of Split 1 on February 14. Geek Fam will share the stage with the other three invited teams: NAOS Esports, Oasis Gaming, and ZOL Esports. The six remaining teams will be determined through the Qualifiers scheduled for February 8-11.
