Gen.G have kicked off their roster overhaul by allowing three players to explore other opportunities while keeping the door open for potential re-signings.
SOUTH KOREA – Gen.G have officially announced that Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom, Kim “Lakia” Jong-min, and Kim “Meteor” Tae-o are now free agents with the expiration of their contracts. Munchkin and Meteor have also posted their Looking for Team (LFT) updates.
The players were signed only for the 2024 season, but Gen.G stated they are “continuously in talks” with them about the possibility of returning for next season. This announcement coincides with the opening of the VCT Pacific transfer window, where teams are expected to make roster moves starting today.
With their 2024 roster, Gen.G made history by securing Asia’s first international VALORANT victory at VALORANT Masters Shanghai, along with wins at the VCT Pacific KICKOFF and Stage 2 events. This lineup could be considered one of the strongest starting fives in VCT Pacific history, having an outstanding season despite a setback at the end-of-season VALORANT Champions Seoul event, where they placed 9th-12th.

Of the departing trio, Meteor has the longest tenure with Gen.G, having joined the team in October 2022 for the inaugural VCT Pacific season. The following year, Gen.G revamped the roster around him, adding four new players, including Lakia from Dplus KIA and Munchkin from T1.
Munchkin was named the MVP of the 2023 VCT Pacific Stage 2 Finals while serving as the team’s in-game leader. He has been vocal about non-fragging IGLs, saying that “IGLing shouldn’t be an excuse for not performing. I think it’s a petty excuse to say that your performance kind of drops when you take the IGLing role. It shouldn’t be an excuse for anyone.”
With the free agency status of Munchkin, Lakia, and Meteor, Gen.G are left with the following members:
- 🇰🇷 Kim “t3xture” Na-ra
- 🇰🇷 Kim “Karon” Won-tae
- 🇰🇷 Kang “solo” Keun-chul (Head Coach)
- 🇰🇷 Kim “HSK” Hae-seong (Head of Strategy)
