by Juandi January 2, 2023

The first split of VCT Oceania 2023 is ready to kick off on January 21, with eight teams fighting for a share of the AU$50,000 (~US$33,978) prize pool.

OCEANIA – The 2023 VCT Oceania Split 1 team list has been finalized following the conclusion of the qualifier stage. The open qualifier began on December 15 with matches up to round of 16, played in a best-of-three setting to determine the eight teams that would advance.

The group stage portion of VCT Oceania Split 1 will take place online starting on January 21, with the format featuring a best-of-three, single round-robin format. At the end of February 26, the top six teams will be seeded right into the playoffs, with the bottom two eliminated. The six best–placed sides will move on to the single-elimination, best-of-three playoffs on March 7-12 in a bid to secure the lioness’ share of an AU$50,000 prize pool.

Of the eight teams that have qualified via the open bracket, many recognizable names return. 2022 VOT Championship runners-up BOBO headline the team list, along with Honey Badgers, Funcrew, and Bonkers. Built for Greatness come in as the only team backed by an organization in the eight-team event. The Who Plus Two and Koopa Troopas made their debut during the OFF//SEASON circuit and most notably finished 3rd and 3rd-4th in the DreamHack Showdown VALORANT and LPL VALORANT Overtime Cup, respectively.

Additionally, it marks the end of ORDER’s domination in the domestic Oceania region after two years. Some players have since split away to other teams, including BOBO, Honey Badgers, and India's Global Esports.

The complete team list of VCT Oceania Split 1 looks as follows:
