dos9 leaves BOOM Esports
dos9 will no longer play for BOOM Esports.
INDONESIA – BOOM Esports have parted ways with Dastan “dos9” Zhumagali, marking the end of the Kazakhstani player’s one-year stint with the Indonesian squad.
His departure is a significant blow to BOOM, as dos9 had been one of the team’s key sources of firepower. Reports from Anonimotum and Tanmay of Sheep Esports last week indicate that dos9 is set to join Karmine Corp for the 2026 VCT EMEA season.
dos9 joined BOOM Esports in late October of last year, stepping in to replace Sha “ZesBeeW” Mohtar as the team prepared for their debut in the tier-one VCT Pacific League. The move came after BOOM received a last-minute invitation to take Bleed Esports’ spot in the league.
While their debut during Kickoff went largely under the radar, Stage 1 became BOOM Esports’ breakthrough moment. The team went undefeated in the group stage, taking down DRX, Gen.G, Paper Rex, Global Esports, and DetonatioN FocusMe, before bowing out early in playoffs after losses to Gen.G and Paper Rex. dos9 was the driving force behind that surprise run, finishing Stage 1 with the third-highest player rating in the league at 1.19 VLR across 344 rounds, trailing only Jemkin and Invy.
That very run proved to be the saving grace for BOOM Esports, as it was the sole reason they avoided direct relegation to Challengers. The points they earned from that Stage 1 performance were just enough to keep them in contention, allowing them to compete in the ongoing Ascension Pacific event to fight for their return to the league.
BOOM Esports have recently added Jonathan “naTz” Adiputra to their roster and brought in Michael “whitecat” Yuzon from Team Secret Academy on loan, while Fikri “famouz” Hamdani sits out for the team’s current Ascension campaign.
As of this writing, BOOM Esports have secured a spot in the playoffs of VCT Ascension Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand, where they’ll battle for one of two coveted slots in next year’s VCT Pacific League.
