alexRr steps in as Nova Esports’ new head coach, replacing pr as the team look to steady their season.
CHINA – Nova Esports have officially turned to Alexander “alexRr” Frisch as their new head coach, replacing Won “pr” Jun-yeon ahead of VCT CN Stage 1. While pr steps down from the lead coaching role, his fellow former FEARX coach Kim “OnbusH” Taek-soo will remain part of the coaching staff, according to the official database and VALORANT Esports CN’s announcement.
The move completes Nova’s mid-season overhaul after the team also added Bijan “qiutiaN” Moeinzadeh from Wolves Esports to the active roster.
alexRr now makes his coaching debut in China, bringing with him a long competitive background that dates back to Counter-Strike. During his CS career, he competed for German teams and qualified for two Majors: DreamHack Winter 2014 with Planetkey Dynamics, and ESL Katowice 2015 as a coach for PENTA Sports.
In VALORANT, alexRr first competed as a player for teams such as BIG and cowana gaming during the game’s early days before transitioning into coaching.
He then made his coaching debut with MY/SG side Disguised, where he worked with players such as Tyler “juicy” Aeria and Wayne “wayne” Chang. Under his guidance, Disguised qualified for VCT Ascension Pacific 2024 in Jakarta, where they finished 5th-6th. The team also won the OneGame Showdown 2024 and Predator League Singapore 2025, while finishing second in VALORANT Challengers SEA Split 1 in 2025 before alexRr parted ways and returned to Europe.
Back in EMEA, alexRr found a new home with Enterprise Esports, coaching a roster that featured several familiar names, including Domagoj “Doma” Fancev, Vladyslav “Kiles” Shvets, and Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt. He helped guide the squad to Ascension EMEA 2025, although their campaign ended in a 7th-8th place finish.
“大家好!I am happy to announce that I will be joining the Nova Esports Team as head coach in VCT CN,” alexRr said on Twitter.
Nova Esports have recently endured their worst results to date this year, finishing 11th-12th at both Kickoff and the CN Evolution Series Act 1. Communication issues may have played a part, prompting the organization to pursue a new coaching direction with yet another foreign coach.
Nova Esports have been drawn into Group Omega for VCT CN Stage 1, where they will face a difficult slate against Xi Lai Gaming, EDward Gaming, Dragon Ranger Gaming, Trace Esports, and Wolves Esports. Their campaign will begin with a tough opening match against EDward Gaming on March 31, followed by another test against Dragon Ranger Gaming on April 3.
