SOUTH KOREA โ T1 have announced the signing of former Gen.G player Ko "Sylvan" Young-sub. The 23-year-old is the first addition to T1's rebuild as they move toward forming a full Korean roster ahead of the 2025 VCT Pacific season.
This announcement puts to rest ongoing speculation about Sylvanโs return to the Pacific League, this time under a new banner with T1, especially after he hinted at signing a contract back in mid-September.
Sylvan inks a deal with T1 after spending the past year in China, where he competed with TOP Esports alongside Yeom "eKo" Wang-ryong in the late 2023 China Evolution Series. He also played for Octagonal Disposition recently with Kim "WIX" Doo-heon in the China National Competition, where they were defeated by the eventual Ascension champions XLG in the regional North division in Wuhan.
However, Sylvan is better known for his time with Gen.G during the 2023 VCT Pacific season, where he joined the team right after the VCT LOCK//IN event. That season, Gen.G fell short of qualifying for both Masters Tokyo and Champions Los Angeles, finishing fourth behind T1 and losing their LCQ to eventual finalists Team Secret, ultimately placing third. Sylvan was the second-best performer on the team throughout the Regular Season, according to VLR.gg.
As T1 continue to reshape their roster, it remains uncertain how many more players they will bring on board. However, the current lineup suggests that they may soon announce at least one more addition to complete a full Korean roster, which will replace Indonesian player Kevin "xccurate" Susanto.
T1 are banking on their new recruit to improve their results especially when going head-to-head against the two domestic rivals and powerhouses: the young and dynamic roster of DRX and the Masters Shanghai-winning roster from Gen.G. Moreover, there are growing concerns about Sin Prisa Gaming, who have been rumored as a strong new kid in the block next season, backed by a roster filled with talented players and plenty of firepower.
