VCT CN Partnered Teams for 2027-28 finalized as Weibo Gaming joins the league
VCT CN confirms its eight partnered teams for the 2027–28 season, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Chinese league.
CHINA – VCT CN has officially confirmed the eight partnered teams that will compete in the league for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, with Weibo Gaming joining as a newcomer to the partnership program.
Like the other three international leagues, VCT CN will reduce its number of partnered teams from ten to eight for the upcoming cycle, marking a change from the league's inaugural partnership cycle, which began in 2024.
Six organizations will retain their partnered status: EDward Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, All Gamers, JDG Esports, Trace Esports, and TYLOO.
Xi Lai Gaming (XLG) has also secured a place in the new partnership program, having spent the previous two seasons competing in VCT CN through the Ascension system. Meanwhile, Weibo Gaming (WBG) joins as the only completely new organization in the league's partnered lineup.
As partnered teams in VCT CN, the eight organizations will receive financial support from Riot Games, opportunities to earn additional revenue through in-game items such as Team Capsules, and guaranteed spots in Kickoff and both Cup events throughout the 2027 season.
In its official announcement, VCT CN outlined its ambitions for the next two years:
"Over the next two years, the league aims to work closely with its partnered teams to further advance the professionalization of esports and its development as a sport. Together, they will strive to build an ecosystem defined by competitive excellence, refined operations, and strong community connections. Through this collaboration, the league hopes to lay a solid foundation for VCT CN's continued growth and development as a region.
In the 2027 season, all eight partnered teams will receive direct invitations to Kickoff and both VCT CN Cup events. Other teams will still have opportunities to compete in VCT CN, either by securing one of two temporary partnership slots through the Ascension tournament or by qualifying through the National Championship."
Unlike the other three international leagues, VCT CN will continue operating under a different competitive format, retaining several elements from its previous partnership cycle.
The Ascension system will remain part of the circuit in a new name: Treshold, offering two additional teams the opportunity to compete alongside the eight partnered organizations through temporary partnership slots.
The VALORANT China National Championship will also continue to provide pathway into VCT CN competitions, including the Cup events. Its structure encompasses regional competitions, platform-based tournaments, and other divisions, allowing teams from across China's competitive ecosystem to participate.
VCT CN will also continue its Roadshow initiative, bringing league competitions to different cities across China rather than concentrating events in a single location.
Three host cities have been confirmed for the 2027 season so far:
- Hangzhou: VCT CN Kickoff
- Wuhan: VCT CN Cup 1
- Shanghai: VCT CN Cup 2
Additional details regarding the league's Roadshow schedule, including potential separate venues and more cities for Group Stages, Playoffs, and Finals Weekends, have yet to be announced.
