In the second episode of the “Road to Champions” mini-documentary, all eyes are on Nutchaphon “sScary” Matarat, who is widely known as the undisputed clutch king of the APAC region.
THAILAND – The second episode of “Road to Champions” was just released by Riot Games, a mini-documentary series about the day in the life of some of APAC’s most prominent players. The second and final player to appear in the series is XERXIA’s Nutchaphon “sScary” Matarat, with footage shot at a range of locations in Bangkok, including XERXIA’s bootcamp facility, his home, and a Buddhist temple, among others.
It features exclusive footage of sScary and his teammates attending their first-ever meet and greets, where hundreds of fans in Bangkok were overjoyed to get up close and personal with their favorite players. As one of Thailand’s most renowned VALORANT player, it is no secret that sScary has tons of people who root for him, and that is what drives him as an individual. “It gives me a sense of belonging,” he says.

It was not all plain sailing for the Controller player, however, especially when XERXIA suffered a crushing defeat at Masters Copenhagen. sScary had to pack his bags early following closely-contested losses in the group stage to both NORTHEPTION and eventual tournament victors FunPlus Phoenix. Despite that, family is what powers sScary through all of his career’s ups and downs; sitting at the dinner table and knowing that no matter what the future holds, there will always be those who will fully support him.
“I think one thing that makes our team stronger or better than other teams is that we’ve known each other for a long time,” he says in a segment of the mini-documentary about his teammates in XERXIA. He describes the team atmosphere as a bunch of friends getting together on a server and having fun, which relieves a lot of pressure off his shoulder.
