The Korean veteran will be donning a new team jersey for the first time since his VALORANT debut under the DRX/VS banner.
SOUTH KOREA – T1 have officially announced the signing of Kim “stax” Gu-taek on a transfer from DRX. The newest addition joins T1 ahead of their VCT Pacfic Stage 2 campaign, where they will be first taking on domestic rivals Gen.G on June 16.
stax is one of the most experienced individuals in the APAC VALORANT scene, having spent the first four years of his career with Korea’s leading side Vision Strikers who were later acquired by DRX. The 24-year-old became a founding member of the Vision Strikers core when they formed in June 2020, transitioning from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
His time with an impressive streak of 103 consecutive wins during the first year of VALORANT helped stax carve out his time as one of the most successful players to ever play the game.

However, the Korean powerhouse has struggled to maintain their status as Pacific representatives on the international stage this year, failing to qualify for the international events this year in Madrid and Shanghai. The 24-year-old benching puts an end to a 47-month partnership during which the DRX VS team made eight international appearances and won countless domestic Korean trophies.
stax’s move to the historic Korean organization in the VCT Pacific League lands not long after DRX in an unexpected move placed him on the team’s bench while bringing back youngster Cho “Flashback” Min-hyuk.
With stax’s experience, T1 will hope to start a new chapter after finishing third and subsequently qualified for VALORANT Masters Shanghai but were not able to go deep into the bracket against international opposition.
