T1 have announced that they have secured the services of Kim “Meteor” Tae-o from domestic rival Gen.G
SOUTH KOREA – T1 have confirmed the acquisition of former Gen.G player Kim “Meteor” Tae-o. The VALORANT Masters Shanghai champion joins as T1’s second major signing, following the addition of Ko “Sylvan” Young-sub, reuniting the duo from their time together at Gen.G in 2023.
Meteor’s signing isn’t the final move for T1, as rumors suggest the roster may still see at least one more addition ahead of the upcoming season.
The move sees Meteor end a two-year-long tenure with Gen.G. He originally joined the team from Japan’s NORTHEPTION to compete in the inaugural VCT Pacific season, where the team finished fourth, just behind domestic rivals DRX and T1, ultimately falling short of qualifying for the international events in Tokyo and Los Angeles. Going into 2024, Meteor was the only player retained from the roster that went on to finish second at VALORANT Masters Madrid and brought Asia its first international trophy at VALORANT Masters Shanghai.

The following month, T1 will head to Gwangju, South Korea, where they’ll face Gen.G and China’s EDward Gaming and Trace Esports.
