VCT APAC Stage 2 Challengers Group Stage opening matches and schedule revealed

Action will resume on Wednesday with the first matches of the double-elimination group stage. 

With Made in Thailand, Bleed eSports, BOOM Esports, and Rex Regum Qeon securing wins in the play-in stage, the opening matchups of the VCT APAC Stage 2 Challengers group stage have been set. 

The 16 teams in attendance were assigned based on their sub-regional seeding and performance in the previous competition cycle. And it has turned out that several highly-anticipated games are already in round one, which is set to take place after two days off, on Wednesday.

Group A’s first matches will kick off the group stage, with Griffin E-Sports squaring off against Gaimin Gladiators (formerly LaZe), who will hope to continue their Cinderella run. The following games after the opener will see Global Esports battling Indonesia’s #2 seed Alter Ego. At the same time, Oasis Gaming take on ORDER to give us Matthew “Texta” O’Rourke and company’s first-ever international matchup. The last match of the first day is slated to start at 20:00 SGT, with FW Esports lining up against Fancy United Esports. 

ONIC G vs. Made in Thailand will open on the second day of the tournament. The second match of the day will then pit XERXIA Esports and Rex Regum Qeon, followed by Paper Rex and BOOM Esports. Headlining the last match of the opening round is a thrilling encounter between Bleed eSports and Team Secret.

The 16 teams will duke it out over six days for the chance to reach the playoffs, which will be contested between June 23-26. The top two teams from each group progress to the playoffs, where they will battle it out for two spots at VCT Masters 2 Reykjavik and a US$30,000 first-place prize.
