VCT Game Changers APAC Open 2 team list finalized; set to start

The Game Changers APAC circuit returns for its second Open tomorrow.

APAC – VCT Game Changers APAC Open 2 is set to begin tomorrow, June 6, with eight teams slated to do battle in the main stage of the competition. The second Game Changers Open, which runs through June 10, features a US$10,000 prize pool, with US$3,500 going to the eventual winners.

The group stage began on June 30, following a Swiss format with six best-of-three rounds involving 68 registered Game Changers teams.

Team SMG emerged as the top team in the group stage, securing a flawless record without losing a single map. They are considered the favorites heading into the main event, having achieved an impressive 33W-0L map record so far this year. With the addition of Odella “enerii” Abraham, they will face Point of Authority Blossom in the quarter-finals and are poised to continue their impressive run in the double-elimination playoffs on Wednesday against the winners of THE HERO KDA – Global Esports Phoenix.

The remaining seven teams all qualified for the main event of VCT Game Changers APAC Open 2 with a match record of 5W and 1L: BIGG SCYTHE, FULL SENSE Sapphire, Global Esports Phoenix, Orangutan X, Point of Authority Blossom, Rex Regum Qeon Kaguya, and THE HERO KDA.

Another matchup that could turn out to be quite entertaining will be the one pitting FULL SENSE Sapphire against Rex Regum Qeon Kaguya. The core team that represented the region in last year’s world championship will debut under the FULL SENSE banner, and the first round will feature Dhammamitta “margeaux” Marvella facing her former teammates in RRQ Kaguya.

Orangutan X and the Indonesian side of BIGG SCYTHE complete the list of participating teams, and their rosters will compete in the opening match simultaneously with the FS Sapphire vs. RRQ Kaguya match.
