- According to Esports Charts, the 2021 VCT Masters 2 Reykjavik recorded a peak viewership of 1,085,850 across its 52-hour airtime. VALORANT Champions garnered a comparable number of viewers, peaking at 1,089,068 during the grand final. Can VCT Masters 1 Reykjavik outperform them?
- In three prior international tournaments, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Turkish streams accounted for a significant amount of the viewership behind English
- Assuming a team never dropped a single map, they can win the entire VCT Masters 1 Reykjavik by winning just 13 maps (four in Groups, nine in Playoffs) from six series, while a team from the top-seed (G2 Esports, The Guard, Paper Rex, and LOUD) can lift the trophy by winning only nine maps from four series
- Only LOUD (BR 14-0) Paper Rex (MY/SG, APAC 12-0), and ZETA DIVISION (JP 8-0) made their way to Masters 1 Reykjavik without dropping a single series throughout their sub-regional tournament
- Six new esports organizations will be at their first international VALORANNT event (DRX, XERXIA Esports, OpTic, The Guard, LOUD, and Ninjas in Pyjamas)
- Out of 29 teams that have ever played in Masters and Champions events, KRU Esports remain the only team to reach all four:
- VCT 2021 – Masters 2 Reykjavik (7-8th)
- VCT 2021 – Masters 3 Berlin (5-8th)
- VALORANT Champions 2021 (3rd-4th)
- VCT 2022 – Masters 1 Reykjavik (TBD)
- Brazil will have the most participants in the event with eight players (4 from Ninjas in Pyjamas and LOUD, respectively)
- G2 Esports have the most diversified roster, with players from six different countries, including the coach, followed by Paper Rex and Fnatic.
- G2 Esports (6): 1 Lithuanian, 1 Danish, 1 Spanish, 1 Finnish, 1 Swedish, and 1 Russian (Coach)
- Paper Rex (4): 2 Singaporeans, 2 Indonesians, 1 Malaysian, 1 French (Coach)
- Fnatic (4): 3 British (1 coach), 1 Czech, 1 Finnish, and 1 French
- 75% of teams (9 of 12) are of mixed nationality, which is significantly higher than the most recent CS:GO LAN (IEM Katowice 2022), which had just 41,66% (10 of 24)
- Only XERXIA Esports, ZETA DIVISION, and DRX consist of the same nationality featuring Thailand, Japan, and Korea.
- In the opening match of the tournament, DRX (formerly Vision Strikers) will face ZETA DIVISION (formerly Absolute JUPITER) for the first time in 540 days. The Korean team still retain three members (Zest, Stax, and Rb), whereas the Japanese team only have two (Laz, crow)
- The first day’s final series will begin at 5:00 AM SGT, with OpTic Gaming (previously Envy) looking to revenge for their VALORANT Champions defeat against Thailand’s XERXIA Esports (previously X10 CRIT)
First Time Attending International LAN for VALORANT
There will be 20 participants (33,33%) who have never competed in an international VALORANT tournament before. While every squad has at least one member who has attended one, only The Guard will be entirely making their debut without prior experience in Masters or Champions.
