The pair of former Crest Gaming Stellar members fill the final two spots on the ZETA DIVISION GC roster.
JAPAN – ZETA DIVISION GC have announced the signing of two new players, Asami “UR” Ogura and Choe “SereNa” Hye-yeong, to round out their 2024 roster.
The move became necessary as their lineup dwindled to merely three members following the end of last season, with Airi “romia” Sugiyama parting ways this February to join FENNEL Hotelava, and Seina “KOHAL” Migita shifting into the role of a Streamer for the Japanese organization.
UR and SereNa make the jump to ZETA DIVISION GC after spending the 2023 VCT Game Changers Japan season with Crest Gaming Stellar. While their former team successfully reached the main event of Split 2, they narrowly missed qualifying for the East Asia stage as they faced defeat in the lower quarter-finals, culminating in a 5-6th place finish overall. On an individual level, both players performed well in the aforementioned event, maintaining an average VLR rating of 1.17 across 235 rounds played against the likes of DRX Changers, IGZIST Female, and REIGNITE Lily.
In reflecting on her journey and being the first Korean player to join ZETA VALORANT, SereNa shared in the announcement video, “I started VALORANT in September, 2 years ago. I watched a Game Changers tournament on October 12th [VCT Game Changers East Asia 2022] by chance and thought, ‘I want to win the GC tournament too.’ That’s why I became a pro.”
With the move, ZETA DIVISION GC will hope to maintain their position as the forefront name in Japan’s Game Changers scene and remain competitive in the East Asia region, seeking to reclaim their standing after lagging behind Chao Hui EDward Gaming in last year’s Championship qualification.
ZETA DIVISION GC currently have no events lined up as they await the start of the Game Changers season.
