Jieni7 has been promoted to EDward Gaming’s main roster midway through VCT CN Stage 1.
CHINA – EDward Gaming have announced that they have decided to promote Zhang “Jieni7” Juntai from their academy squad, EDward Gaming Youth. The move comes as a surprise, happening mid-way through VCT CN Stage 1, right after their dominant win over TYLOO in Regular Season Week 1.
It remains uncertain whether Jieni7 is joining the main roster as a substitute, a sixth man, or as a replacement for a player from the starting five who won VALORANT Champions 2024 and finished third at the 2025 VALORANT Masters Bangkok.
However, signs suggest that Jieni7 might be facing a trial by fire in the starting lineup, as he has been seen filling in for Xie “S1Mon” Mengxun during EDward Gaming’s scrims over the past two days.

While Jieni7 remains relatively unknown to the public, even within the region, he recently made his debut in the CN Evolution Series Act I, competing alongside three of EDward Gaming’s coaches while the main roster prepared for VALORANT Masters Bangkok. Given his background as a duelist, EDG could be exploring a double-duelist approach moving forward.
EDward Gaming’s next challenge comes this Thursday at 19:00 GMT+8, where they will face the rising Nova Esports squad.
With Jieni7’s promotion, EDward Gaming now have the following roster:
- Wan “CHICHOO” Shunzhi (万顺治)
- Wang “nobody” Senxu (王森旭)
- Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang (郑永康)
- Zhang “Smoggy” Zhao (张钊)
- Xie “S1Mon” Mengxun (谢孟勋)
- Zhang “Jieni7” Juntai (张君泰)
- Tang “Muggle” Shijun (唐世骏) (Head coach)
- Liu “Century” Shiji (刘世纪) (Assistant coach)
- Huang “Sunshine” Jinjie (黄进杰) (Analyst)
