RRQ Ewok is taking a step back from coaching and does not put a timetable on his return.
SOUTH KOREA – Marthinus “Ewok” Walt announced last week that he has stepped down from his head coach position at RRQ (Rex Regum Qeon). He shared that he’ll be taking a short break from full-time coaching but hinted that he plans to stay involved in the VALORANT scene in other ways.
Ewok joined RRQ in September 2022, shortly after the organization was confirmed as one of the VCT Pacific partner teams. During his time with RRQ, Ewok navigated the team through struggles and multiple roster changes, eventually leading them to a breakout year in 2025.
Under his guidance, RRQ captured the VCT Pacific Stage 1 title, finished runners-up at Stage 2 in Tokyo, and qualified for two international events: VALORANT Masters Toronto, VALORANT Champions Paris, in addition to the 2025 Esports World Cup.

“After 3 incredible years with RRQ, I’ve made the difficult decision that I’ll be taking a temporary break from full-time coaching. It’s been some of the most amazing years of my life, and I would like to thank everyone involved from the bottom of my heart.”
As of now, RRQ has not confirmed whether assistant coach Evan “Warbirds” Olzem will be stepping up to lead the team moving forward. The team currently has one off-season event lined up, the 2026 APAC Predator League in India this January, though more invitations could come their way, depending on which events they choose to participate in.
RRQ Co-Owner Calvin “Nano” Thenderan also shared his thoughts on Ewok’s decision:
“Today, we announce the difficult decision that Ewok will be taking a break from the 2026 season. We, together with Ewok, have explored various ways for him to continue into the upcoming season, but ultimately reached the difficult conclusion that he will not be able to continue as a full-time coach.
Ewok has been with the team since 2022, when we were selected as a partner team for VCT Pacific. Among the available candidates, we chose him because we believed he had the best qualities to lead our project toward becoming a strong and competitive team in the league. Ewok’s work ethic has been second to none, and while our journey began with challenges, we have consistently shown improvement over time.
While our international results were not as strong as we hoped, we have continued to grow and learn from every experience on the global stage. Though we wished for a different outcome, we fully respect Ewok’s decision and on behalf of everyone in RRQ would like to sincerely thank him for his dedication, hard work, and invaluable contributions to RRQ VALORANT.”

RRQ currently have:
- David “xffero” Monangin
- Maksim “Jemkin” Batorov
- Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha
- Bryan “Kushy” Setiawan
- Ngô “crazyguy” Công Anh
- Evan “Warbirds” Olzem (Assistant coach)
- Rebecca “Rebecca” Wong (Performance coach)
