The former Philadelphia Fusion and Toronto Defiant skipper will now coach the Shadow Corporation roster in VALORANT.
SOUTH KOREA – Shadow Corporation have announced the appointment of Kim “KDG” Dong-gun as the new head coach of their VALORANT team. In conjunction with this appointment, the team has also welcomed the addition of Go “UdoTan” Kyung-Won, who will be joining the team as a player, and Ma “ValAnalysis” Hyun-sung, who will assume the role of an analyst.
Having already made a name for himself in the Overwatch League, KDG’s coaching experience spans three major teams in the past five years. These teams include the Seoul Dynasty, Seoul Infernal (formerly Philadelphia Fusion), and most recently, the Toronto Defiant.

KDG’s coaching expertise was brought to the spotlight during his tenure with Philadelphia Fusion, where he guided the team to multiple impressive runners-up finishes in nearly every tournament in the latter half of 2020. During this period, he also worked alongside Lee “Carpe” Jae-hyeok, who is now part of the T1 roster competing in the VCT Pacific League. However, KDG’s time with the Fusion came to an abrupt end toward the end of the season after they were eliminated in the first round of the Grand Finals weekend, leading to his departure from the organization soon after.
Despite his previous successes, KDG’s following tenure with Toronto Defiant was less than ideal, and he ultimately parted ways with them after almost two years. It was after this experience, nine months later, that KDG made the decision to join Shadow Corporation as their new VALORANT head coach. He will be working in tandem alongside coach Won “pr” Jun-yeon, who has been with SDC since the beginning, to ensure that the team is in the best shape possible for the upcoming Challengers League.
Shadow Corporation, formed earlier this year by a Seoul-based esports agency, have been making waves in the upper echelon of the Korean scene after their surprising Regular Season run during VCL Korea Split 1. The team managed to finish the regular season on top, surpassing more established teams like Dplus KIA, Rio Company, and Maru Gaming, generating a great deal of interest in their future performance.
Shadow Corporation will have around three weeks to prepare with KDG for the upcoming VCL Korea Split 2 from April 11 through May 20, where they will compete with seven other teams for a Pacific Ascension slot.
Shadow Corporation now have:
- 🇰🇷 An “Banger” Hyung-gi
