Alter Ego return to VALORANT with acquisition of Vyres Esports

Alter Ego re-enter the VALORANT scene with a qualified lineup set to compete in Challengers SEA Split 1 this March.

INDONESIAAlter Ego have officially announced their return to VALORANT for the 2026 season through the acquisition of the Vyres Esports roster. The move will see the organization compete in the main event of VALORANT Challengers SEA Split 1 this March after the squad secured qualification through the Indonesian regional tournament.

Alter Ego had previously exited VALORANT in early 2025, citing an unfriendly Challengers ecosystem for tier-two organizations as well as the restriction that matches could only be streamed on SOOP. However, with that broadcast limitation now lifted and Challengers teams now having a direct path to Champions Shanghai, the organization may have found renewed motivation to return. At the time of their departure, Alter Ego CEO and Founder Delwyn Sukamto had already hinted at that possibility, saying that “there’s a chance we’ll come back and try again next year.”

The new AE lineup is headlined by the return of Rayvaldo “ray4c” Chandra, who previously represented Alter Ego in 2024. During his earlier stint with the organization, the team won APAC Predator League 2025 in Kuala Lumpur and placed first and second in VALORANT Challengers Indonesia 2024 Split 1 and Split 2, respectively.

Another familiar name is Hagai “Lmemore” Tewuh, who also played for Alter Ego back in 2021. More recently, after spending the first two years of the VCT Pacific League with RRQ, he joined Malaysia-based Todak and helped the team win VALORANT Immortal Cup Indonesia Season 2. That victory earned Todak a spot in the VALORANT Challengers SEA Split 3 Promotion/Relegation stage, although they ultimately fell short of reaching the Split 3 main event.

Bryan “SCar” Yudianto remains a relatively new figure in the tier-two scene, having only begun appearing in 2024 with ARF Team before later joining Team Nemesis in the second half of 2025. The controller player’s best result to date came at Predator League Indonesia 2026, where he finished as runner-up.

The roster is rounded out by two Filipino players in Alvin “Sovano” Prince and former Team Secret Academy player “parscofield”. Sovano delivered one of the standout performances of the Indonesian regional finals against BOOM Esports, dropping 31 kills and posting a 1.11 VLR rating on Bind, though BOOM still edged out the map 18-16.

Parscofield, meanwhile, finished as the second-highest rated player in VALORANT Challengers SEA Split 3 last year, behind only Wayne “wayne” Chang, who has since moved to Team Liquid, and above Xavier “xavi8k” Juan, who now plays for Global Esports. This came despite Team Secret Academy ending the tournament in 11th-12th place.

Chua “Meracle” Joel has been listed as the team’s assistant coach/substitute, while Ethan “Skeltzy” Skelton will remain as head coach. The Australian has previously led several Game Changers teams, including swaglord9000 and Rising Esports GC who competed in Game Changers SEA 2024 and 2025, respectively, in Thailand.

As previously mentioned, the former Vyres Esports roster secured a top-two finish in the Indonesian qualifier for Challengers SEA Split 1, earning a place in the main event and representing Indonesia alongside BOOM Esports. It marks a familiar pairing for longtime followers of the regional scene, with the two organizations once again standing among the country’s top representatives.

In the main event, Alter Ego will go up against several recognizable names, including Oasis Gaming and NAOS Esports from the Philippines, Motiv Esports from the Rest of SEA qualifier, and Kadiliman Esports, led by Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza, who qualified through the Premier route, among others.

The VALORANT Challengers SEA Split 1 main event is set to begin on March 5 with the group stage.
