rite2ace joins the growing number of Indian VALORANT players in search of greener pastures in Valve’s FPS.
INDIA – Former Velocity Gaming player Tejas “rite2ace” Sawant has announced that he would be making a comeback to Counter-Strike.
He is set to become one of several high-profile South Asian players making a shift to Counter-Strike, with some making a comeback and others trying their hand at the game for the first time. Many of these players have shown a desire to depart from the VCT ecosystem for the upcoming year, VALO2ASIA has learned.
“EMG Legends Cup LAN which is happening October end would be my last event playing VALORANT. Three years have passed so fast, but I’m super grateful for all the love and support. [I] will take a small break after those events and come back stronger competing in Counter Strike.”
The return of rite2ace to Counter-Strike marks a homecoming to the game that shaped the first six years of his professional journey. Over this period, rite2ace was associated across a number of different noteworthy organizations including Entity Gaming, Team iNvictus, Signify, XcN, and Global Esports. He remains one of only five Indian players to have ever participated in a Major, having qualified for ESL One Cologne 2014 as a member of Team Wolf.
rite2ace is set to wrap up his VALORANT career following the conclusion of the OFF//SEASON period. The EMG Legends Cup in Dubai, UAE, this coming October, will be his last appearance in the server. After this event, the 30-year-old plans to take a brief hiatus before diving headfirst back into Counter-Strike.
Being among India’s most-decorated FPS players, rite2ace has dedicated the past three years to competing mostly with Velocity Gaming.
During this period, he and his team have been a dominating force in the Indian VALORANT scene along with Global Esports. Velocity Gaming’s most notable achievement came in 2022 when they clinched the VALORANT Conquerors Championship Stage 1, propelling them to represent South Asia in the VCT APAC Stage 1 Challengers tournament.
rite2ace has racked up an impressive domestic trophy haul during his time with Velocity Gaming, culminating with his last outing in the VLT jersey at the end of 2022. He then teamed up with Revenant Esports for the first part of 2023 before playing with the non-backed Team Sarafa along with some of his former teammates in Velocity Gaming for OFF//SEASON tournaments.
Team Sarafa are set to play in the Last Chance Qualifier of EMG Legends Cup after finishing as runners-up in the India Qualifier. They alongside Orangutan will fly to Dubai, UAE, to compete.
