JAPAN – NORTHEPTION have expressed their intention to continue competing in VALORANT for the upcoming season, as seen by their recent hiring post for a Japanese-Korean translator position. The Hokkaido-based organization is anticipated to once again form a new Japanese-Korean roster for the 2024 season.
NORTHEPTION recently wrapped up their 2023 VCT season with respectable 5th–6th place standings in VCL Japan Split 1 and 2.
However, the team’s cohesion began to waver after Kim “TenTen” Tae-young publicly made racist remarks, leading to his dismissal from the team and the subsequent exit of the remaining players and coaching staff. Currently, Kohei “BlackWiz” Mikami is the sole remaining member of NORTHEPTION, though he is on a temporary loan to VARREL.

There were uncertainties about whether the organization, having been involved in VALORANT since early 2021, would participate in the forthcoming season. Nonetheless, their recent move to hire a translator strongly affirms their ongoing commitment and plans for the upcoming season.
The role of the translator will involve interpreting between players, coaches, and staff of NORTHEPTION in Japanese and Korean, with proficiency in English being an added advantage, as per the job posting. NORTHEPTION is keen on having the new recruit begin work as early as October, indicating that announcements regarding their team roster are likely to be made in the coming weeks or months.
The black-and-yellow banner reached their peak in 2022, representing Japan in VALORANT Masters Copenhagen, following their victory in the VCT Japan Stage 2 Challengers tournament.
