We are back with our second year of The VALO2ASIA Awards!
Starting last year, VALO2ASIA has been recognizing larger APAC’s twenty players of the year at its annual VALO2ASIA Awards. And with the year 2022 now approaching its end, the time has come to honor those who have raised the bar for the APAC scene. Awards will be handed out for the Top 20 APAC Players of the Year and three additional categories to acknowledge the best in the Game Changers circuit and other contributions inside and outside the server.
A 20-member Panel of Judges, consisting of current and former professionals in the industry, would compile a list of the best 20 APAC players of the year. Each player selected as a nominee was chosen after a thoughtful evaluation of their respective performances throughout the season. The APAC region is comprised of Southeast Asia, South Asia, Oceania, Korea, Japan, and China.

Juandi, Editorial at VALO2ASIA, commented: “The VALO2ASIA Awards is an initiative that aims to not only grow the scene (future) but also to build a legacy for the players, giving them something to look back on five to ten years from now (past) and see how far they have come. During my time covering Counter-Strike in Asia, I even found it difficult just to obtain basic information on even the ten best players in my region; this frustrating yet simple problem was one of the motivating factors for starting this annual celebration and continuing it for years to come.”
Last year, we started out efforts to establish a standard for industry experts, regular fans, and tournament organizers, as well show appreciation for the players in the highest level of APAC VALORANT, who have been grinding tirelessly to reach the top. We saw Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan win the 2021 VALO2ASIA Awards for player of the year. Needless to say, many new stars have since risen to snatch the crown and prove themselves. The 2021 Awards was the inaugural edition of an annual celebration that we want to continue for years to come.
Furthermore, we are taking a step forward this year, as The VALO2ASIA Awards 2022 will award the winner with an actual medal, which will be presented by the end of this year. The medal will have the awardee’s name engraved on the back.
The complete list of categories for The VALO2ASIA Awards 2022 is the following:
Top 20 APAC Players of the Year
The top 20 list is entirely based on players’ contributions in the server over the course of VCT 2022 (VCT Stage 1 Challengers to VALORANT Champions) from the following regions: Southeast Asia, South Asia, Oceania, Korea, Japan, and China. It is not based solely on their Average Combat Score (ACS) and does not account for any external factors that may or may not have impacted their performance.
Top 3 APAC Game Changers Players of the Year
While our top 20 list may include those who competed in the Game Changers circuit, VALO2ASIA believes that a dedicated category to one of the largest women’s esports competitions seen to date is essential.
The top 3 Game Changers list is based entirely on players’ contributions in the server throughout VCT Game Changers 2022 (VCT Game Changers APAC Open 1 – VCT Game Changers Championship) and not solely on their Average Combat Score (ACS). It does not account for any external factors that may or may not have impacted their performance.
Top 3 APAC Player Personalities of the Year
The three players that made 2022 a fun and not a monotone competition.
Top 3 APAC In-Game Leaders of the Year
The brain of a team and thus a very important member to have. Often underappreciated, but the impact inside and outside of the game of an IGL is massive and thus a dedicated category for it is necessary.
