BOOM Esports and Alter Ego have been invited straight to the main event of VALORANT Challengers Indonesia Split 1, it has been announced.
INDONESIA – VALORANT Challengers Indonesia Split 1 has revealed the exclusive two invites, confirming last year’s Ascension representatives BOOM Esports and Red Bull Campus Clutch champions Alter Ego as the first two confirmed participants for the main event. The remaining four spots for the main event will be determined through qualifiers scheduled to take place from January 24 to 28.
A total of US$15,000 will be up for grabs in VALORANT Challengers Indonesia Split 1. The Regular Season will run from February 3 to March 10, where the four qualified teams will go head-to-head against two invited sides and battle it out in a best-of-three round-robin stage across four weekends totaling nine days.
At the end of the Regular Season, no teams will face elimination as it only sets the seeding for the double-elimination bracket. Matches will continue to unfold in best-of-three settings, except for the final two encounters: the Lower Final and Grand Final, both adopting a best-of-five format.

BOOM Esports earned their invitation following their victory in the grand final of last season’s VALORANT Challengers Indonesia Split 2, where they emerged as champions by defeating Dominatus and at the same time secured their qualification into VCT Ascension Pacific. The team reached the semi-finals of the Bangkok event, facing eventual victors Bleed Esports and narrowly falling short in the competition.
As they enter the 2024 season, BOOM Esports have bolstered their roster in response to the departure of two veteran players: Gary “blaZek1ng” Dastin, who joined Global Esports, and the retirement of Michael “SEVERiNE” Winata from competitive play. Sheldon “NcSlasher” Andersen is making a return to the team, revisiting the banner he represented in the first year of his VALORANT career, and brings with him his former Bigetron Arctic teammate, Oliver “m0rea” Wangge, to round out the roster.
The team recently participated in the 2024 APAC Predator League last weekend and reached the semi-finals. However, they faced defeat at the hands of FAV Gaming in a best-of-one encounter.
Joining the invite list alongside BOOM Esports is the new Alter Ego roster, whose most recent victory was at the Red Bull Campus Clutch 2023 event in Istanbul, Turkey. The collegiate roster is led by Rayvaldo “ray4c” Chandra, previously part of the Dominatus roster along with Davin “gotten” and in-game leader Rivaldy “ValdyN” Nafian. Retained for the season are Bryan “Kush” Setiawan and Alehandro “Nakya” Simanjorang, also with the addition of former BOOM Esports member Thomas “Cud” Alfiantino to complete the roster.
