Andi “Sleepy” Bangsawan will step down from his coaching duties in Alter Ego to explore other opportunities elsewhere come January 2022.
Andi “Sleepy” Bangsawan has been on Alter Ego’s set-up since January 2021, most notably coaching the previous roster iteration that includes the core of the current BOOM Esports lineup (Tehbotol, BerserX, frostmind). Sleepy’s appointment as coach of one of Indonesia’s top-tier teams was a baptism of fire, having previously only appeared in just two official matches, as a stand-in, for ONIC Esports in First Strike Indonesia.
During his tenure with the Indonesian organization, Sleepy notably led the team to qualify for a number of high-profile tournaments, including almost all of Indonesia’s VCT Challengers competitions this year. After achieving considerable success in the domestic scene in the top three rankings, Alter Ego put together a remarkable performance in its inaugural Southeast Asian tournament, finishing third in the VCT Stage 3 – SEA Challengers Playoffs.

With Alter Ego unable to net a trophy win with the roster outside of Indonesia, and following a major roster shuffle prior to the VCT Last Chance Qualifier by multiple Indonesian teams, including Alter Ego, the team acquired additional four new players, thus expanding the squad to a six-man roster.
The newly established roster of Alter Ego quickly made a reputation for themselves, reaching their pinnacle by winning the first international title for the organization in the TEC Challenger Series Season 6 – at the same time, being Sleepy’s final appearances with the organization.

Alter Ego’s freshly formed lineup immediately gained their footing, achieving their apex by capturing the organization’s first international championship this year in the TEC Challenger Series Season 6 — which also served as Sleepy’s last appearance with the organization.

The team has yet to officially name its new skipper for 2022, but Alter Ego’s general manager, Avian “Whypy” Luthfi, is anticipated to be appointed for the 2022 season.
