The short-lived lineup made waves in the scene by finishing runners-up in both Korean Challengers Split One and Two.
SOUTH KOREA – SLT have parted ways with their team with immediate effect, the players have announced. This news comes just two days after the Seongnam side narrowly missed out on victory in VCL WCG Korea Split 2, losing to the eventual champions, Dplus KIA, in a best-of-five grand final.
The organization has confirmed that SLT Seongnam is not disbanding, leaving open the possibility of their return in the future. “SLT continues to prepare and plan for future seasons,” Kim “Ariel” Han-yong, CEO of SLT, told VALO2ASIA.
“The players had a contract period left with us, However, due to the near termination of the contract and no additional Challengers tournaments this year, the contract was quickly terminated to allow players to move to other teams and play for the rest of 2023.”
The former Rio Company roster joined SLT Seongnam’s ranks after the end of their Split 1 campaign, in which they achieved a runners-up finish. With SLT, Kim “Sunday” Min-soo and co. once again achieved an impressive runners-up position in the subsequent Split, beating prominent names such as Nongshim RedForce, Incheon On Sla2ers, and Maru Gaming.

However, they still struggled to surpass eventual champions Dplus KIA in the grand final, preventing them from representing Korea in Ascension Pacific. “It’s really disappointing, but it seemed like the expected outcome. I’m sorry, and thank you so much for your support up until now!” Lim “LuZ” Ui-jun took to Twitter after the game.
The release of SLT Seongnam members means that the players and coaches are now without an organization to represent. They will be pursuing separate paths, with most of the team expressing their desire to continue playing and actively seeking opportunities to join new organizations during the OFF//SEASON.
