Alter Ego have agreed on a deal to sign the championship-winning roster of GARUDA from the 2023 Red Bull Campus Clutch for the upcoming season.
INDONESIA – Alter Ego have announced the signing of the 2023 Red Bull Campus Clutch champions GARUDA, bringing over the entirety of the roster around Rayvaldo “ray4c” Chandra.
The move comes a month after the team’s victory in the aforementioned collegiate event held in Istanbul, Turkey, where GARUDA dominated without losing a single series against teams from Guatemala, the United States, France, Romania, Germany, Pakistan, the Czech Republic, and Peru on their path to claiming the title.
The updated Alter Ego lineup comprises ray4c, Rivaldy “ValdyN” Nafian, Davin “gotten“, Thomas “Cud” Alfiantino, along with the returning members Bryan “Kush” Setiawan and Alehandro “Nakya” Simanjorang. Currently, it remains unclear whether the team will operate with a six-man roster or designate a substitute, as well as Baskoro Dwi “roseau” Putra’s status within the coaching staff who just returned in November. Nanda “asteriskk” Rizana has also been named as the team’s new head coach, having stood behind the collegiate roster in Istanbul. This appointment marks the 28-year-old’s inaugural official coaching role, following a three-season career playing at the top tier of Indonesian VALORANT with teams such as BOOM Esports, Persija Esports, and most recently Alter Ego in the 2023 season.
Prior to their success winning the Red Bull Campus Clutch event, ray4c, ValdyN, and gotten were members of the Dominatus roster that progressed to the grand final of the 2023 Challengers Indonesia Split 2 event, securing victories against heavy contenders ARF Team, Bigetron Arctic, and BOOM Esports en route to the best-of-five deciding series. However, their journey was halted when they faced BOOM Esports for the second time for the Ascension Pacific qualification.
Meanwhile, Cud was still a part of BOOM Esports in a capacity as the sixth member, whereas Kush and Nakya were already part of Alter Ego alongside asteriskk during that time before the latter left in July.
The future of Alter Ego had been up in the air after failing to find much success at Predator League Indonesia 2024 with their revamped roster that featured two MY/SG imports. However, the organization will be hoping to regain momentum and assert themselves as strong contenders to represent Indonesia at the 2024 Ascension event.
The roster’s debut for their new organization will come in less than a month in VALORANT Challengers Indonesia Split 1.
