The former BOOM Esports player will debut for his new team later this month in the VCT Indonesia Stage 1 Challengers.
The long-rumored move of Adrian “adrnking” Setiawan to Alter Ego has finally been confirmed, the organization announced on Monday. The 23-year-old’s arrival will subsequently result in the team’s configuration being extended to a seven-man roster.
The move sees adrnking quickly return to action after he was left teamless in early December when Rex Regum Qeon decided to drop the Indonesian roster in favor of a yet-to-be-announced Filipino roster. With RRQ Endeavour, adrnking notably achieved a runner-up placement in Indonesia’s VCT Stage 3 Challengers 3, only falling short to his former squad, BOOM Esports, in the grand final. On top of that, RRQ spent most of its time competing in the domestic landscape, with zero squad presence internationally in 2021.
“To begin, I want to express my gratitude for the chance that Alter Ego has provided me; I hope that with the lineup, we can raise Alter Ego’s flag to the worldwide stage.”
– Adrian “adrnking” Setiawan told VALO2ASIA.
Adrnking joins Alter Ego at a pivotal point of Alter Ego, having just signed four players from MORPH in October 2020. The arrival of adrnking with extensive experience in both VALORANT and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive could provide a significant boost to the team that possesses the necessary firepower but lack a repertoire of tactics against tier-one competitions.
The news comes as little surprise, given Alter Ego have already utilized adrnking as a stand-in for the squad in the TEC Challenger Series 6 on ten maps, including three in the grand final. The trophy also marks adrnking’s first significant one over the course of 2021. And to top it all of, Avian “Whyphy” Luthfi, Alter Ego’s general manager, had informally announced the signing on his live stream in the last week of 2021.
