T1 have handed over the calling duties to Lee “Carpe” Jae-hyeok for the AfreecaTV VALORANT League.
SOUTH KOREA – T1 head coach Yoon “Autumn” Eu-teum has revealed that Lee “Carpe” Jae-hyeok has taken over the in-game leader role and will be calling the shots for the team at the AfreecaTV VALORANT League.
The new arrangement was revealed by Autumn following their convincing 2-0 victory over Chinese powerhouse EDward Gaming in their opening AfreecaTV VALORANT League match. However, this also led to the unforeseen benching of the former in-game leader, Son “xeta” Seon-ho, and one of the team’s best performers from last season, Lee “k1Ng” Seung-won.
“Good to see their hunger to win through [the] match. Nice IGL-ing btw Carpe. Keep it up,” Autumn tweeted in praise of Carpe.

In addition, caster Clinton “Paperthin” Bader shared insights during a pre-analysis segment of the T1-EDward Gaming match, indicating that Carpe will shoulder various roles within the team. These roles range from being a substitute to serving as the in-game leader, player-coach, and even technical coach. Therefore T1 have not closed the door on the potential return of xeta and k1Ng to the active roster, suggesting that the Korean side might explore a variety of roster configurations for their upcoming matches.
The role and positional change for Carpe marks the start of a new period for the former Overwatch League player as he steps up as the team’s captain, building on his experience of guiding rookies during his time with the Philadelphia Fusion (Seoul Infernal) in the OWL.
