The first two Pacific teams to qualify for VCT Masters Toronto have been found as Gen.G and RRQ came out on top in their respective qualification matches.
SOUTH KOREA – Gen.G and RRQ have booked spots at VCT Masters Toronto following victories over BOOM Esports and DRX, respectively, in the VCT Pacific Stage 1 Playoffs.
They now join Sentinels and MIBR from the Americas, along with Wolves Esports and XLG from China, in qualifying for VALORANT’s second international event of the year, set to run from June 7-22. Six more spots (PACIFIC 1, CN 1, AMERICAS 1, EMEA 3) remain up for grabs
Meanwhile, the battle for the final Pacific spot continues in the lower bracket, where six teams—Paper Rex, T1, TALON, Nongshim RedForce, DRX, and BOOM Esports—are still in contention.

Gen.G were the first Pacific team to punch their ticket to Toronto, needing just two maps to dismantle BOOM Esports. They halted the Indonesian side’s momentum after an impressive 5-0 regular season run and got their revenge for a 0-2 loss in Week 1. In fairness, this was BOOM’s first real test against a true top-performing team.
Their previous wins had come against a Gen.G squad still adjusting to roster changes in Week 1, a Paper Rex team debuting PatMen, a DRX side reeling from the sudden Flashback withdrawal, and DetonatioN FocusMe, as well as Global Esports. In the bigger picture, BOOM—a team fresh off an Ascension runners-up finish—faced a stark experience gap compared to a seasoned Masters-winning roster like Gen.G, led by FPS veterans Kang “solo” Keun-chul and Jung “peri” Beom-gi, who would throw everything they had to secure a Toronto berth.
Jung “Foxy9” Jae-sung and Ha “Ash” Hyun-cheol have finally found their rhythm in Gen.G, helping to stabilize the team’s star, Kim “t3xture” Na-ra. On the other hand, BOOM now face a daunting challenge ahead as they await the winner of T1 vs. Paper Rex for a critical lower bracket showdown this weekend.

DRX looked on track to qualify for VCT Masters Toronto, even after being forced to adjust their roster—replacing Cho “Flashback” Min-hyuk with Kang “BeYN” Ha-bin following Flashback’s request. The addition of former RRQ in-game leader Park “Estrella” Geon also seemed to tip the matchup slightly in DRX’s favor, especially against an RRQ squad that had just suffered a loss to Team Secret in their previous match.
But RRQ defied expectations, pulling off a reverse sweep to win the series, powered by a standout performance from Maksim “Jemkin” Batorov, who ended the match with a 1.41 VLR rating. With this victory, RRQ broke the “first-seed curse” that had plagued top seeds from Americas, China, and BOOM Esports, all of whom had lost their opening playoff matches.
From the outside looking in, the arrival of Ngô “crazyguy” Công Anh has clearly strengthened RRQ’s communication and overall cohesion, helping the team secure the honor of representing Southeast Asia and Indonesia at Masters Toronto. His qualification also marks a historic milestone, as crazyguy becomes the first Vietnamese player to make it to an international VALORANT event.
