Global Esports are gearing up towards VCT Pacific Stage 2 with the addition of a coaching duo in Matthew “mCe” Elmore and Daniel “Platoon” Zhou.
INDIA – Global Esports are making moves ahead of VCT Pacific Stage 2 with the addition of two new faces to their coaching staff: Matthew “mCe” Elmore joins as assistant coach, while Daniel “Platoon” Zhou steps in as the team’s new analyst. The duo will work alongside head coach Donnie “Elevated” Chell in preparing the squad for a crucial stage of their 2025 campaign.
Best known for his time with The Guard and Cloud9, 34-year-old mCe brings a wealth of experience and top tier scouting experience to the team. Under his guidance, The Guard triumphed at the 2022 VALORANT Challengers North America Stage 1, defeating OpTic Gaming and securing a spot at Masters Reykjavík. His last run with The Guard ended at the NA Last Chance Qualifier, where they only lost in the grand final to 100 Thieves.
mCe then transitioned to Cloud9 for the inaugural VCT Americas season in 2023, leading the squad to some of its strongest finishes to date, including a 4th-place league finish and a deep third-place run at the LCQ. After parting ways with Cloud9, he took the reins at Maryville Esports, where he helped the collegiate squad break into the main event of the 2024 VALORANT Challengers NA Split 3, alongside various regional collegiate tournament wins.

Joining him is Daniel “Platoon” Zhou, who steps into his first professional role after gaining popularity for his in-depth YouTube breakdowns of top-level VALORANT gameplay. Platoon shared on Twitter, “Content will be inconsistent while working with this talented squad! Hope you guys can cheer us on in Stage 2.”
The coaching revamp comes as Global Esports look to regroup after a tough Stage 1. The team parted ways with head coach Preston “Juv3nile” Dornon following his suspension and saw significant roster movement, including the departure of IGL Kelly “kellyS” Sedillo to Team Secret and underwhelming performances from some of their younger talent like the now-departed Mark “patrickWHO” Musni.
To fill the gaps, Global recently brought in Joseph “ban” Oh and Chae “yoman” Young-mun, along with the two new coaching hires. The team’s next official outing will be at the ACL 2025 EWC Pacific Qualifier from May 22–25, though no stream will be available. However, all eyes will be on their July campaign at VCT Pacific Stage 2, their final shot at making it to VALORANT Champions in Paris.
