Four VCT Pacific players spoke to the press ahead of the Kickoff, sharing their thoughts on Tejo being playable as early as this week.
SOUTH KOREA – As the VCT Pacific Kickoff approaches, Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom, Ilia “something” Petrov, Thanamethk “Crws” Mahatthananuyut, and Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha weigh in on the news that Tejo, VALORANT’s 27th agent, will be available for play just one week after his release.
Tejo has been confirmed as playable in the VCT Kickoff across all four international leagues. NAVI’s Kyrylo “ANGE1” Karasov debuted the agent for the first time in the VALORANT Champions Tour circuit during the first day of the EMEA Kickoff against Karmine Corp.
Gen.G’s in-game leader, Munchkin, shared his perspective on Tejo, saying “When I first looked at his abilities, I thought he seemed pretty OP. However, after actually playing him, I found that he is lacking in certain areas and might need a few buffs before being viable in team comps.”

As for the Masters Shanghai champions using Tejo during Kickoff, Munchkin expressed some doubts: “In my personal opinion, it might be a bit risky to bring him out immediately at Kickoff,” he added.
On the other hand, Paper Rex and something have approached Tejo with preparation. Despite being a new addition to the roster of playable agents, the team understands that Tejo may give them an advantage if understood correctly. “Nowadays, we’re trying to play with Tejo, since we will have this agent from the start of Kickoff. Other teams might also play this agent, and we’re preparing for that.” Unfortunately, this does not clarify whether Tejo is on the cards for Paper Rex during the upcoming Kickoff.
Meanwhile, Crws echoed similar thoughts on whether Talon Esports would consider picking Tejo, saying “I personally don’t know much about it, and I’m not sure how it’s going to play out. I think the character seems busted in some ways, but I don’t know if people will actually risk playing Tejo in Kickoff.”

Finally, Monyet of Team RRQ weighed in with a more favorable view of Tejo, though he too stressed the need for more time. “I think Tejo is pretty good; it’s a very strong agent, in my opinion.”
“However, I think he still needs more time. Same as what everyone has been saying about Tejo, you can’t start using it in Kickoff just yet. You need more time to develop strategies and understand how effective the agent can be. Overall, the agent is pretty good,” Monyet added.
VCT Pacific Kickoff begins on January 18th.
