This means that six out of eight members of Alter Ego will be flying the flag for their country in Cambodia this May.
INDONESIA – Alter Ego have revamped their squad with the additions of former Persija Esports trio Nanda “asteriskk” Rizana, Kevin “Eeyore” Gunawan, and Baskoro “roseau” Putra. The latter will be taking over the coaching responsibilities, filling the void left behind by former coach Kang “TRY” Tae-wook, who parted ways with the organization right after VCL Indonesia Split 1.
To make room for asteriskk and Eeyore in the active roster, Jonathan “naTz” Adiputra has been loaned out to Hike Digital. These moves complete Alter Ego’s overhaul after a challenging run in the first split of Challengers League Indonesia, in which Alter Ego finished 5-6th, just one place below the Split 2 direct qualification zone.

The new signings not only come as a unit from the former Persija Esports roster that qualified for the 2022 VCT APAC Stage 1 Challengers last year, but they also come from the national team of Indonesia that will compete in the upcoming SEA Games 2023. “[Our] love started from the national team,” the opening line of the announcement reads, in Bahasa Indonesia. This means that six out of eight members of Alter Ego, including Adrian “adrnking” Setiawan, who will compete in CrossFire, will be flying the flag for their country in Cambodia this May,
The organization will be hoping that the new trio, who bring with them extensive experience as some of the most decorated players in the scene, will better Alter Ego’s odds of qualifying for the Pacific Ascension League.
The new Alter Ego roster had already debuted in the Promotion/Relegation Stage of VCL Indonesia Split 2, securing victories over 90 KG and Le Crapaud. Alehandro “Nakya” Simanjorang was not included in the series, however, which raises questions about the team’s future lineup decisions with a six-man roster and talented players at their disposal.
Their campaign in the main event of VCL Indonesia Split 2 is set to commence play on March 29, facing Dewa United at 4 PM SGT (UTC+8).
This means Alter Ego’s roster for the upcoming VCL Indonesia Split 2 consists of the following:
- 🇮🇩 Bryan “Gemma” Setiawan
- 🇮🇩 Delbert “deLb” Tanoto
- 🇮🇩 Adrian “adrnking” Setiawan
- 🇮🇩 Alehandro “Nakya” Simanjorang
- 🇮🇩 Nanda “asteriskk” Rizana
- 🇮🇩 Kevin “Eeyore” Gunawan
- 🇮🇩 Jonathan “naTz” Adiputra (Loaned out to Hike Digital)
- 🇮🇩 Baskoro “roseau” Putra (Coach)
