The fifth edition of Indonesia President’s Esports Cup will feature VALORANT.
INDONESIA – VALORANT will be among the games featured in the Indonesia President’s Esports Cup 2023 (Piala Presiden Esports 2023), the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) confirmed in a recent press release. The event will also spotlight Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and two Indonesian titles, Lokapala and Battle of Satria Dewa.
Details beyond the games featured in the competition remain under wraps, leaving questions about whether the VALORANT event will take place in front of an audience and be included in the offline finals. The tournament will span from July 18 to October 22, culminating with the finals at the Tennis Indoor Senayan within the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta.

Earlier communications about the Piala Presiden 2023 only included Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Lokapala, with no mention of VALORANT. However, the Executive Committee’s Chair, Rangga Danu Prasetyo, indicated at the kickoff event that they may consider adding more games following discussions with the respective game developers.
The Indonesia President’s Esports Cup made its debut in 2019, fully backed by President Joko Widodo and the Indonesian government. The event’s 2023 iteration will be organized by KINCIR and Megapro Communications, with endorsements from the Executive Office of the President (KSP), the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), and the Indonesian Esports Central Board (PBESI).
“We hope that the number of participants will be larger, as well as the number of spectators. If last year there were 82 thousand participants, this year the target is 100 thousand, and the spectators should exceed 70 million,” said Sandiaga Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
“The young generation always plays a crucial role in every era, including in the recovery of tourism and the creative economy. Through the fingertips of the younger generation, we can produce globally recognized local games, breed high-quality esports athletes, and introduce tourist destinations on various digital platforms.
So, this is the time for the younger generation to showcase their extraordinary creativity and the beauty of Indonesia to the world. More than USD 2 billion is generated from the gaming sub-sector, but unfortunately, there are still very few local games. Therefore, we want to encourage more local games, and I greatly appreciate the 2023 Presidential Esports Cup by KINCIR, which features local games,” added Uno, as quoted from Detik.
The previous year’s edition boasted a total prize pool of Rp 2 billion, equivalent to US$133,269 as of July 27,2023.
