FENNEL are the last confirmed team for the VCL Japan Split 1 Finals.
JAPAN – FENNEL have secured the last spot at the VCL Japan Split 1 Playoff Finals after defeating NORTHEPTION and Sengoku Gaming in the lower bracket quarter-finals and semi-final, respectively. It was a closely contested tournament, as only one spot was up for grabs for the playoffs after Crazy Raccoon and SCARZ had already clinched the first two spots by topping the regular season standings.
In the decider match, Cho “JoXJo” Byung-yeon and his team were pitted against Sengoku Gaming, who had just emerged victorious in their previous match against IGZIST. The contest was fiercely fought, with both teams trading their selected maps for the first two games before taking their own for the third and fourth maps. This led to a decider map, which went the full distance for a full 24 rounds before FENNEL came out on top, 3-2 (Ascent 15-13, Haven 9-13, Lotus 5-13, Split 13-8, Pearl 13-11).
“We had many close games during the playoffs, and many things that we did not do well came out. We will work on fixing those and take revenge against SZ and CR to win first place. Please support us!” CLZ said in a post-match interview.
