Nick “tixx” Quinn and Yota “Yotaa” Kaouachi bring more international experience to the table in SCARZ, having competed in the South Asia and French circuits, respectively, last season.
JAPAN – SCARZ have unveiled their starting lineup for the rest of the season, bringing former Gods Reign and Bonkers player Nick “tixx” Quinn and revealing the signing of Yota “Yotaa” Kaouachi from VALORANT Challengers France circuit team Akroma.
The duo join the starting roster alongside John “Yoshiii” Kawakami, the lone survivor from the previous Ascension 2023 roster, and recent additions Maxim “Lumo” Demianovskikh and “MrTenzouEz“. The move follows the departure of three members a month ago, following a disappointing Split 1 campaign that saw them finish in 7th place.
Coming from down under, tixx joins SCARZ after his stint with Gods Reign in the South Asian circuit last season and with Bonkers in the 2022 season, where he secured qualification for VCT APAC Stage 1 Challengers. The 21-year-old will assume the role of in-game leader (IGL) from Maxim “Lumo” Demianovskikh, as revealed in a press release.
Rounding out the active roster is Yotaa. Though relatively unknown in the APAC scene, Yotaa has made a name for himself primarily in the tier-two VALORANT Challengers France scene since late 2021 with 3DMAX, F9 Hetic, and more recently Akroma. The 21-year-old Duelist/Sentinel was born and raised in France but has Japanese and Moroccan heritage as well. “I’m glad that I was given the opportunity to play as a member of SCARZ,” Yotaa expressed. “I’m really looking forward to Split 2 and will do my best to lead SCARZ to victory”
The brand new roster has been put together by SCARZ with the goal of reclaiming qualification for VCT Ascension Pacific and ultimately earning a temporary promotion to the VCT Pacific League.
In other SCARZ-related news, “dvnc9” has joined the team as a substitute after previously playing for BLUE BEES in the first half of last year, and “nolozy” has been appointed as the team’s new analyst following his time with Crest Gaming Zst.
SCARZ have just secured qualification for the main event of VALORANT Challengers Japan Split 2 today following their win over Murash Gaming avoiding relegation. The Regular Season of Split 2 is set to begin on May 20 and will run until June 28, followed by the playoffs from June 10 to 28.
