Here’s how the voting system works for The VALO2ASIA Awards 2023
The rankings are shaped by the collective input of a 20-member judging panel, with their individual votes combined to produce a consolidated list. We supplied the judging panel with a pre-arranged list of potential nominees in a spreadsheet to make the selection process smoother. The aggregated votes will be used to create the official nominee list for the 2023 VALO2ASIA Awards.
Our panelists are a diverse mix of talents, bringing insights from the Challengers League, Game Changers, Ascension, and the VCT Pacific League. With their varied perspectives and our broad sample size, we believe the results will be a true representation of the season.
For The VALO2ASIA Awards 2023, twenty contributors will submit their votes to select nominees for three distinct categories:
- Top 20 APAC Players
- Top 5 APAC Game Changers Players
- Top 5 APAC Challengers Players
Medals will be given to the following:
- Top 5 APAC Players
- Top 5 APAC Game Changers Players
- Top 5 APAC Challengers Players
Top 20 APAC Players of 2023
Players nominated: 36/70
How judges make their choices:
- The top 20 list is entirely based on players’ contributions on the server over the course of VCT 2023, and not based solely on their Average Combat Score (ACS). It doesn’t take into consideration any external factors that may or may not have affected their performance.
- Our judges will be provided with a lengthy list of players selected from results across the APAC (SEA, KR, JP, CN) region and given one basic question: who were the greatest APAC players in 2023?
- VCT LOCK//IN
- VCT Pacific League
- VCT Pacific Last Chance Qualifier
- VALORANT Masters Tokyo
- VALORANT Champions Los Angeles
- We ask our judges to choose 20 names each and rank their selection in order from 1-20, No 1 being their choice of the best player.
How the voting works
- The No 1 choice of each judge receives 20pts, No. 2 gets 19, down to 1pt for their No 20. The total number of votes will be combined together to get a raw score.
- To qualify for the list, a player needs to collect votes from at least four (4) judges.
- Tiebreaker(s)
- If players are tied on points in the scoring, the number of individual votes cast is used as a tie-breaker.
- The median ranking from all judges will be used as the second tiebreaker. The median is determined by arranging the player’s scores in ascending order and finding the middle value. If there’s an even number of scores, the median is the average of the two middle numbers. The player with the higher median ranking will take precedence in the event of a tie.
Top 5 APAC Game Changers Players of 2023
Players nominated: 8/15
Judges are not obligated to cast their votes in the Game Changers category. We recognize that some judges might not be deeply engaged with the GC scene. Our primary goal is to ensure that votes for this category come from those with an understanding of the Game Changers scene in APAC (SEA). In championing this category, we seek to shine a spotlight on the contributions of women in the scene, celebrating their achievements and support them in their professional development.

Top 5 APAC Challengers Players of 2023

The newly introduced category, Top 5 APAC Challengers Players, will spotlight players outside of the Pacific League but who have shown outstanding performances in the 2023 Challenger Leagues—whether in their sub-regional leagues or in Ascension.
The candidates for this category are those whom the judges believe are deserving of advancing to the VCT Pacific League or are expected to excel in the upcoming season of the Challenger Leagues. This category isn’t exclusive to newcomers but encompasses all players from the tier-two ecosystem.
