Taman Anggrek Mall will play host to the US$25,000 event.
INDONESIA – The VCL Indonesia Split 2 Playoffs will be held at Taman Anggrek Mall Jakarta, tournament organizer OneUp has revealed. The playoffs will involve the top six teams from the regular season competing for a prize pool of US$25,000 and a highly sought-after spot at the VCT Ascension Pacific event in Bangkok next month.
This announcement comes shortly after VALO2ASIA noticed an advertisement for Challengers League Indonesia at the Grand Lucky supermarket in Jakarta’s Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD).
After hosting the previous two seasons online, this event signifies the first LAN-based tier-one VALORANT tournament held in the country. The last notable domestic event of this magnitude was the Indonesia Esports Games 2018 for Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Taman Anggrek has previously hosted several notable esports events, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League Season 1, Indonesia Pride Gaming League, APAC Predator League 2018 and 2019, and WESG 2018 Indonesia. Many of these events were won by BOOM Esports.
BOOM Esports analyst Harry “6fingers” Tjahjadi Putra, alongside Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart, was part of the organization’s CS:GO roster that lifted the WESG 2018 Indonesia trophy at the mall’s atrium.
Meanwhile, at the same event, Bigetron Arctic’s Oliver Budi “m0rea” Wangge and Le Crapaud’s Radya “Rapheleen” Ramadhanta, who were part of ThePrime CS:GO roster at that time, fell short in the semi-finals and lost to PG.BarracX headlined by Thomas “Cud” Alfiantino and Rivaldy “ValdyN” Navian.
Bigetron Arctic are the reigning champion of VCL Indonesia, having won the first Split held from January to March, defeating BOOM Esports in the final. The following six teams have already secured spots in the playoffs as a result of the regular season standings:
Bigetron Arctic | BOOM Esports |
Alter Ego | ARF Team |
Dominatus | Le Crapaud |
