The second split of WCG Challengers Korea is about to start tomorrow.
SOUTH KOREA – WCG VCL Korea Split 2 will commence the action tomorrow as eight of the region’s top teams will duke it out over the course of seven weeks. The top performers from the previous Split will once again battle it out for their share of a prize pool amounting to KR₩75,000,000 (~US$56,878) and a chance to secure a Pacific Ascension berth representing Korea.
The final two spots witnessed Our Growth Story and On Sla2ers (previously Never Give Up) earn their positions through the Advance Stage.
Below is the list of the eight teams who will be contending in the league:
|Dplus KIA||SLT (prev. Rio Company)|
|Maru Gaming||CNJ Esports|
|Shadow Corporation||Our Growth Story|
|Nongshim RedForce||On Sla2ers|
The same format that was utilized in the previous Split will be used again in this one. The regular season’s matches will be played in round-robin best-of-three games, which will eventually eliminate the bottom two teams by the end of Week 4. The lower-seeded teams will also have to overcome a disadvantage in the subsequent round.
Six teams will eventually make up the field in the double-elimination playoff bracket. The top two teams will start their road in the upper-bracket semi-finals, while the remaining four will fight their way earlier in the upper-bracket quarter-finals.
The victor of the previous Korean Split was Dplus KIA, who achieved a resounding 3-0 sweep against Rio Company.
The prize distribution for the tournament is the following:
|1st||KR₩25,000,000 + Pacific Ascension spot|
