After winning VCL South Asia Split 1, Orangutan released their VALORANT docuseries ‘Beyond the Server’, which documents their journey from the beginning
INDIA – Orangutan has unveiled their VALORANT docuseries entitled “Beyond the Server”, with the release of its zero episode today. “We have put a lot of time and resources into this. We are going to show the community everything that has happened beyond the server!” Kunal Soni, the Manager of Orangutan, told VALO2ASIA.
The organization made its foray into Riot’s first-person shooter in May 2022, forming a roster comprised of domestic and international talents hailing from India, Pakistan, South Korea, and the Philippines.
South Asia, particularly India, is one of the most prominent regions for VALORANT Esports in Asia. During the inaugural edition of the VALORANT Conquerors Championship in 2021, more than 52 thousand people tuned in, reflecting the game’s popularity in the region and setting a peak viewership record that has remained unbroken to this day.

Jai Shah, the Co-Founder of Orangutan, kicks off the documentary by commenting on the organization’s initial plan to construct a VALORANT lineup. “We were searching for a VALORANT team since October of 2021 because we had our two rosters [on other games] properly set [and] performing well. It was time for us to move to our third roster, which was the men’s [VALORANT] team,” he said.
The episode features Orangutan’s first roster iteration, Jm “tesseract” Ignacio, Mustafa “shooterR” Kamal, Yang “Persia” Zi-on, Vibhor “Vibhor” Vaid, and Prabhdeep “Ghost” Bhatia, who pulled off an upset victory against domestic powerhouse Global Esports at Skyesports Champions Series 2022. However, they encountered a rough path afterwards as they struggled to defeat Enigma Gaming and were later defeated back by Global Esports, leading to a third-place finish in the region’s qualifier for the 2022 VCT APAC Challengers Stage 2.
The episode also chronicles the organization’s journey in building its current roster, which most recently lifted the VCL South Asia Split 1 trophy, defeating Gods Reign in a swift 3-0 victory in the grand final. Anticipate further details about upcoming episodes to be provided on their social media accounts.
