Japanese organization Sengoku Gaming have rejoined the VALORANT scene after several months away. They’ve signed the core of the Feeling team that placed 5th-6th in Stage 3 Challengers Finals. Notably joining that group will be former GOnGO Prince Jett Ha “kobra” Su-hyun.
Feeling’s surprise performance in Stage 3
Feeling were one of two teams – the other being Insomnia – that came from nowhere to put up a really good performance in VCT Stage 3 in Japan. Led by 17-year-old star Jett GangPin, they took down BlackBird Ignis to advance to that position. BBI were considered a contender for top four, so this win was a huge success. Along with GangPin, Sengoku Gaming have brought in Art and misaya from that former roster.
GangPin will take Jett and be the backbone of this Sengoku Gaming team. While he is capable of absolutely destroying lower-tier competition, some inconsistent play has kept him from truly reaching the peak. With the support of an organization like Sengoku, though, maybe that will change.
kobra headlines other additions
Coming over from Korea to join the roster is kobra. The former GOnGO Prince player had some success on his former team. In Stage 3, he took over primary Jett duties from the departed Yoon “Lawrence” Hyun. kobra had some good moments, but ultimately Prince fell in the quarterfinals to eventual champions Vision Strikers.
The final member of this roster is Tfy. He joins Sengoku from Team Updraft, probably the best orgless team in Japan. He was most recently playing Jett as well, but we’ll almost certainly see him switch off that role to make room for GangPin.
How well might Sengoku Gaming perform?
Sengoku are re-entering VALORANT just as the Japanese scene is getting more exciting than it’s ever been. A lot of new talent came up in Stage 3, and that talent is just starting to find established homes. The Ilya “something” Petrov-led BLUE BEES are one example, and Sengoku with GangPin are now another. While these teams construct new, exciting rosters, top teams are in turmoil. ZETA DIVISION pulled out of the Champions Last Chance Qualifier to make internal changes, while FENNEL and Northeption were suddenly thrust in their place.
There are some off-season events that will be very exciting to watch. As top teams switch things around and organizations like Sengoku and BLUE BEES look to challenge them, the Japanese VALORANT scene is heating up like it never has before.
