Ryona “Tarathiel” Tan has hung up the mouse to pursue other interests, the Alter Ego Celeste skipper revealed Saturday on Instagram.
INDONESIA — Tarathiel kicked off her career in 2018 as part of Garuda-1st Ladies Star CS:GO, where she played alongside Risalma “Oreophelia” Agnia before she moved on to Celeste Esports the following year and made a breakthrough. The Indonesian squad had a dominant presence in the Southeast Asian female CS:GO scene for quite some time until Summer 2020, when she spearheaded the team’s transition to VALORANT.
“I think it started with me since I like playing VALORANT. I told my teammates that I was no longer interested in playing CS:GO and instead wanted to focus on VALORANT. Luckily, my teammates also felt the same way, and we even had Ayumiii with us. We started playing VALORANT more and we dominated in the early female tournaments so we decided we would focus on VALORANT instead.” Tarathiel said in an interview last year with VALO2ASIA.

The team quickly gained notoriety as one of Southeast Asia’s heavy contenders on the back of dominant victories from the day the team transitioned, closing both 2020 and 2021 on a high note as the Queens of SEA. The remarkable run can be compared to Cloud9 White’s run in North America by winning all of the most significant tournaments in the region so far.
Known for her role as a tactician in Alter Ego Celeste, Tarathiel leaves behind a dominant and memorable stint with an 87.79% map win rate throughout her VALORANT career.

Tarathiel said in her statement that she has “chosen another target” and has “therefore decided to close this chapter” of her life. “Thank you to everyone who has been through this journey with me, who watched my growth throughout the years and cheered for me. I have gotten this far because of everyone. thank you and see you guys in another time.” Tarathiel said in a statement to VALO2ASIA.
As Tarathiel steps down, Alter Ego Celeste have yet to name a permanent fifth. Dhammamitta “margeaux” Marvella has been absent from the squad since September last year and will remain so in the upcoming VCT Game Changers APAC Open 1. In the meantime, Nabila “nabbsky” Sulthana will fill in for the team.
